The Global DTC Workshop 2025 convened the DTC Initiative community and provided a platform for ITU, Cisco, the DTCs and DTCI partners to resume discussions on the implementation of the Initiative and explore ideas on how to continue moving forward together and moving forward better.
From 22 April to 9 May 2025, the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT), the DTC in Uganda, conducted its first train-the-trainer programme on computer basics for the visually impaired, with support from ITU and the Government of Norway through the Project “Boosting Digital Skills through Digital Transformation Centres”, as well as ST Foundation.
With support from ITU and the Government of Norway under the Project “Boosting Digital Skills through Digital Transformation Centres”, the DTC in Sierra Leone, Bridge the Digital Divide Sierra Leone (BDD-SL), conducted a train-the-trainer programme on the Cisco and HP-LIFE courses offered under the DTC Initiative.
Under the Digital Transformation Centres (DTC) Initiative and in collaboration with the Centros Tecnológicos Comunitarios (CTC), which represents DTC in the Dominican Republic, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) through its Telecommunication Development Bureau and the Government of Norway contributed to empowering female prison inmates at the Rafey Rehabilitation and Correctional Center in Santiago de los Caballeros through a digital skills training programme.
ITU organised several information sessions for the DTCs to mark the official launch of its course on “Introduction to digital finance for small businesses”. The course aims to support citizens in learning the essential elements of financial management, with a particular focus on micro-enterprises and digital tools that can strengthen their small businesses.
The Virtual University of Pakistan conducted a train-the-trainer course in November 2024 that prepared participants – comprising 10 visually impaired trainers and 10 sighted assistants – to teach basic computer skills to people with visual impairments.
From 23 to 26 December 2024, the Agency for Digital Development (ADD), the Digital Transformation Centre in Morocco, delivered a digital skills training for 100 young girls residing at the “Dar Taliba” boarding school for female students in the R’hamna province, region of Marrakesh.
From 18 November to 6 December 2024, the Professional Development Center (PDC) of the Virtual University (VU) of Pakistan (DTC Pakistan) implemented its first train-the-trainer programme on the “Introduction to Computer Basics for the Visually Impaired” (ICBVI) course.
In December 2024, the Centros Tecnológicos Comunitarios (CTC), the DTC in the Dominican Republic, conducted a basic digital skills training for a group of 50 female prison inmates of the Rafey Rehabilitation and Correctional Center in Santiago de los Caballeros.
Concept, the DTC in Senegal, concluded an extensive training on computer basics for visually impaired citizens based in the municipalities of Kolda, Guediawaye, Ziguinchor and Biscuiterie.
