Impact story: Driving digital empowerment in the Dominican Republic through the DTC Initiative

Under the Digital Transformation Centres (DTC) Initiative and in collaboration with the Centros Tecnológicos Comunitarios (CTC), which represents DTC in the Dominican Republic, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) through its Telecommunication Development Bureau and the Government of Norway contributed to empowering female prison inmates at the Rafey Rehabilitation and Correctional Center in Santiago de los Caballeros through a digital skills training programme.

ITU organised several information sessions for the DTCs to mark the official launch of its course on “Introduction to digital finance for small businesses”. The course aims to support citizens in learning the essential elements of financial management, with a particular focus on micro-enterprises and digital tools that can strengthen their small businesses.

Impact story: Empowering indigenous people in the Philippines through digital literacy training programme

Date

To develop digital skills in the community, made up mostly of indigenous people, the ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau (ILCDB) of the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), the DTC in the Philippines conducted a train-the-trainer and citizens’ trainings in Barangay Bagahinan, one of the Philippines' Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas.
