The quality of service and quality of experience training organized for communications regulators in the Southern African Development Corporation (SADC) commenced on the 8th May 2017. The training has attracted 105 participants from 8 SADC countries as well as participants from France, Spain and the United Kingdom.
The ITU annual regional human capacity building workshop for Sub-Saharan African countries will be held at the Holiday Inn Mauritius in Mon Trésor, Plaine Magnien, Mauritius, from 28 - 30 June 2017. The workshop is organized by ITU Regional Office for Africa in partnership with the National Computer Board of Mauritius.
The Quality of Service (QoS)/Quality of Experience (QoE) training for SADC will be held from 8 to 10 May 2017 at BOCRA Spectrum House in Gaborone, Botswana. The Training is being organized by ITU and CRASA, and hosted by Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA).

The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), in collaboration with ITU, ISOC, RIPE NCC and ACM SIGCOMM, is organizing a two-week workshop on Open Source Solutions for the Internet of Things. The workshop will be held from 26 June to 7 July 2017 in Trieste, Italy.
The ITU Regional Workshop for CIS “Strengthening Capacity Building in the field of Telecommunications/ICT” will be held from 12 to 14 April 2017 in Odessa, Ukraine. The workshop is being organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the ITU in collaboration with A.S. Popov Odessa National Academy of Telecommunications (ONAT) of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Association of Communications and Telecommunications Regulators of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (ARCTEL) signed a cooperation agreement to implement joint activities focusing on capacity building and education. The agreement was concluded at the 8th Communications Forum of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), held in Guinea Bissau on 15-16 February 2017, at which most of the countries that will benefit from the Agreement were in attendance.
Following the launch of the online programme in Communications Management between ITU and UKTA, a flexible program and delivery schedule has been designed in partnership with The University of Rwanda (an ITU centre of excellence).
New communities have been created in the ITU Academy for the Steering Committees of the Centers of Excellence (CoEs) in each region. This feature has been introduced as part of the action items from the Second Steering Committee meetings held between November 2015 and January 2016.
Three manuals have been developed to guide users of the ITU Academy Platform, to help them understand the platform and its functionalities, their access rights, as well as their roles and responsibilities.
