Impact story: Revolutionizing Lives with DTC in Ghana

The successful implementation of the ‘Boosting Digital Skills through Digital Transformation Centres’ project delivered through the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) – through the ITU Digital Transformation Centre Initiative – has transformed thousands of lives. Women entrepreneurs, for example, learned digital marketing abilities that allowed them to build their businesses online. School children were taught programming languages such as Scratch and Python, sparking an early interest in technology.

Celebrating successes and wrapping up the DTC Project in Ghana

On 27 June 2024, a closeout event for the “Boosting digital skills through Digital Transformation Centres” (DTC) Project was held in Kumasi, Ghana. The Project was funded by the Government of Norway and ITU and started in January 2021.

BDDSL

Bridge the Digital Divide Sierra Leone becomes part of the DTC network and community

Date

In April 2024, the DTC Initiative welcomed the latest addition to the DTC community, bringing the total number of centres in the network to 14. Bridge the Digital Divide – Sierra Leone (BDDSL) is an NGO based in Freetown, Sierra Leone, whose primary mandate is to contribute to spreading the benefits of digital technology in the country.

DTC-Dominican Republic continues to build institutional capacity to deliver DTCI content

Date

From 22 January to 2 February 2024, the DTC in the Dominican Republic “Centros Technologicos Comunitarios” (CTC) conducted a train-the-trainer activity on the Cisco and HP-LIFE programmes. The training was supported by ITU and the Government of Norway through the Project “Boosting Digital Skills through Digital Transformation Centres”.
