Who delivers courses in the ITU Academy?

ITU and its partners deliver courses on the ITU Academy platform, particularly the ITU Academy Training Centres (ATCs). 

What are the different course levels on the ITU Academy?

ITU Academy courses are categorized into three levels to help participants choose courses that match their background and learning needs:

  • Introductory: Designed for learners without prior knowledge of the topic, providing a broad overview.
  • Intermediate: May require some prerequisite knowledge and is often aimed at professionals from related fields.
  • Advanced: Tailored for professionals already working in the field, focusing on strengthening core competencies or acquiring new skills for direct application.

What delivery formats are available for ITU Academy courses?

The ITU Academy offers courses in different formats to accommodate various learning preferences:

Instructor-led courses (with guided instruction and interaction):

  • Online instructor-led: Fully online training with real-time or scheduled instructor interaction.
  • Face-to-face: In-person training conducted at a physical location.
  • Blended: A combination of online and in-person learning elements.

Online self-paced courses: Fully online training where learners progress at their own pace without instructor supervision.

What topics are covered by ITU Academy courses?

ITU Academy courses cover a wide scope of ICT-related topics ranging from programmes for government policy makers and regulators, professional business-focused curricula for senior ICT executives and managers, to specialized programmes for technical and operational staff.

How do I select a course and pay for it as an individual user?

As an individual user, you can select your own courses and purchase them by using bank transfer or credit card. ITU Academy offers two tutorials that will guide you through your course selection and assist you throughout the payment process.

How do I become an Institutional Contact?

1. Login to the ITU Academy platform. If you are not a user yet, create an account.

2. Once you are logged in, go to "My Account" in the upper right corner, scroll down and select "Apply to be an Institutional Contact". 

3. Responsible ITU Staff will accept or reject your request within 24 to 48 hours.

What is the requirement for successful completion of a course?

The learner is evaluated based on four criteria, namely: participation in chat sessions; participation in discussion forums; assignments and a test. A learner has to score a minimum indicated in each course's training outline. 

Do I get a certificate after completing the course?

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be issued a certificate jointly signed by the delivering institution and ITU or just ITU, depending on the organizers of the course. Certain courses are awarded badges rather than e-Certificates. Please ensure that you read the training outline for each course so that you are well informed.

How can I register for a course?

To register for a course, you need to create an account on the ITU Academy platform. 

After logging in, go to the training catalogue and select the course you are interested in. Click on the course, and you will be directed to its page. 

If the there is an “Enroll” button it means that the course is available to all. 

If there is an “Apply” button, it means that there is a selection process for the course. You may be prompted to fill in a motivation questionnaire.  You will receive a notification as soon as your application has been reviewed, informing you of your acceptance status. 

Does ITU offer scholarships or financial support for participants interested in taking courses on the ITU Academy platform?

Thanks to the support of our partners, some of the courses offered in ITU Academy offer various forms of financial support. More details are available on each course webpage. If nothing is specified, it means that there is not financial support available.
