The International Telecommunication Union (“ITU”) welcomes you to the ITU Academy website, located at www.academy.itu.int (the “Website”). The Website is intended to serve as the main online gateway to ITU’s capacity development activities and provides you access to educational, learning and academic material related to training courses and workshops for participants under the age of 18 (collectively, “Trainings” and each a “Training”).
Your use of the Website is subject to the consent by your parent or other legal guardian. By accessing and using the Website, you agree to abide by these terms, conditions and notices (collectively, “Terms”). ITU reserves the right to modify and update these Terms at any time, and in such an event, it will post a corresponding information notice on the Website.
1. Creation of ITU Academy accounts and registration for specific Trainings; Website content and Trainings
An ITU Academy account for 14-18 years old (“Account”) is required to access certain content on the Website. Creating an Account is free, but you must be at least 14 years old and below 18 to create one. Training-related content is available only upon registration for the corresponding Training, which is done by using your Account. Registration for certain Trainings may require prior coordination with your educational institution and subsequent verification and email confirmation of your registration by ITU. If you have any questions, requests, or concerns regarding your Account, please contact hcbmail@itu.int.
All Trainings under these Terms are provided to you free of charge. Details of each Training, such as its duration and curriculum are included in the relevant Training outline, also published on the Website.
Through the Website, you will have the ability to access and/or use content and Trainings provided by ITU and by third parties, with which ITU has ongoing licensing or collaboration arrangements. Accessing or using this content and Trainings may be subject to additional terms and conditions, which are stipulated in the corresponding third-party license, proprietary notice, or the Training outline. Furthermore, certain content or Trainings found on the Website may contain advices, opinions and statements of third parties. ITU does not represent, warranty or endorse the accuracy or reliability of any such third party advice, opinions, statements or other information.
Unless otherwise explicitly indicated in a Training outline, participation in or completion of a Training does not confer any academic credit, and even if such credit is awarded by the provider of the Training, there is no presumption that it will be acknowledged by third parties.
2. Accessing the Website; Availability of Website content and Trainings
You are responsible for making the necessary arrangements to access the Website. Should you decide to register for a Training, you need to create an Account and upload a consent form signed on your behalf by your parent or other legal guardian. By creating an Account, you agree that you will be solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your Account and password, and that you accept responsibility for all activities occurring under your Account. You also accept that the information you provide to the Website (whether for creating your Account or at any other time) is true, accurate, and kept up-to-date. Please contact ITU at hcbmail@itu.int if at any moment you have reason to believe that your Account is no longer secure. Please note that although ITU takes various organizational and technical measures to protect your Account data and related information, it cannot guarantee that third parties will not gain unauthorized access to your Account data or related information. In this context, please remember to keep your Account data or related information confidential. You remain responsible for all uses of your Account, even if your Account is used by someone else.
ITU will not be responsible if, for any reason, the entire Website or certain content or Trainings become unavailable for an indefinite period. ITU reserves the right to withdraw or amend the Website, or to modify, update or remove any content or Trainings found on the Website, at any time and without advance notice.
Furthermore, ITU also reserves the right to refuse access to the Website to any individual who violates the present Terms.
3. Intellectual Property Rights; area nomenclature and designations
Notwithstanding Section 4 below, the Website and its entire content, features, and functionality (including but not limited to all Trainings, information, software, text, displays, images, video and audio, and the design, selection and arrangement thereof) are owned by ITU, its licensors or other providers of such material, and are protected by international and national copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret and other intellectual property or proprietary rights laws. The present Terms permit you to use the Website and its content for your personal use only. No right, title or interest in or to the Website or any content on the Website is transferred to you, and all rights not expressly granted, are reserved by ITU, its licensors or other providers of said materials, as the case may be. Unless expressly indicated on the Website that a particular item of the Website content or a Training is made available to you under alternate license terms, you may not distribute, sell, modify or otherwise provide access to such item to any third party.
In addition, for any content or Trainings, or parts thereof, which are made available under license by third parties, you agree to abide by any additional terms and conditions of the third party proprietary notices accompanying such content or Trainings.
The name, abbreviation, title, emblem and logo of ITU are protected under the provisions of Article 6ter of the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property. Consequently, neither the ITU name, abbreviation, title, emblem and logo, nor those of the ITU Academy, may be used without the prior written permission of the ITU.
The content and Trainings presented in this Website, including any designations or denominations used therein, do not necessarily represent the views of the ITU or its secretariat, neither do they imply the expression of any opinion whatsoever on the part of the ITU or its secretariat concerning the legal status of any country, territory, city or area or of its authorities, or concerning the delimitation of its frontiers or boundaries. The term “country” as used in the content and Trainings also refers, as appropriate, to territories or areas.

This license is extended to any third party providers of Trainings you registered.
You are responsible for ensuring that: i. you own or control all rights in and to Your Content, including the right to authorize ITU and third party providers of Trainings, as described above; ii. Your Content does not infringe or misappropriate any third party rights, including any copyright, trade secret, moral right, and any other intellectual property right or privacy right; iii. Your Content does not contain any confidential information and it complies with all applicable laws, including those pertaining to defamation, libel, or obscenity; and iv. Your Content does not include any viruses, worms or other malicious code. ITU will not be responsible or liable to any third party for the lawfulness or appropriateness of Your Content or any other content posted by users on the Website.
ITU reserves the right, but not the obligation, to review and remove any of Your Content from the Website if it considers, at its reasonable discretion, that it does not meet the requirements of this Section, and to terminate or suspend your Account or use of the Website. Such actions are without prejudice to any other legal remedies to which ITU may be entitled to under applicable law.
