Under the Digital Transformation Centres (DTC) Initiative and in collaboration with the Centros Tecnológicos Comunitarios (CTC), which represents DTC in the Dominican Republic, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) through its Telecommunication Development Bureau and the Government of Norway contributed to empowering female prison inmates at the Rafey Rehabilitation and Correctional Center in Santiago de los Caballeros through a digital skills training programme.
At the Global DTC Workshop 2025, held from 10 to 12 June in Santo Domingo, DTC focal points shared the importance of sharing best practices and lessons learnt.
The Virtual University of Pakistan conducted a train-the-trainer course in November 2024 that prepared participants – comprising 10 visually impaired trainers and 10 sighted assistants – to teach basic computer skills to people with visual impairments.

From 8 to 12 September 2025, the Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA), the DTC in Rwanda, organised a 5-day digital literacy training programme for citizens, with support from ITU and Norway through the project “Boosting digital skills through Digital Transformation Centres”.
