Mr Erick Huerta Velázquez

Erick Huerta Velázquez has been working in the telecommunications sector for 20 years. Bachelor in Law Universidad Iberoamericana, Master in Social Administration with a mayor on Community Development, University of Queensland Australia and PHD on Rural Development for the Metropolitan University in Mexico, his research consisted in designing a training program for indigenous peoples in telecommunications. It has become a successful program on indigenous technicians. In the last years Erick has been working on new schemes in spectrum management approaches to connect the unconnected, getting spectrum assignment for the first indigenous mobile operator which communicates in a sustainable manner communities from 200 to 3000 inhabitants in rural Mexico. Among other activities, he has been part of the last two Consultative Committees of the Mexican telecommunications authority, ITU expert on communications for rural and indigenous communities and Coordinator of the Development Group of CITEL’s Permanent Consultative Committee 1 (2010-2014).
