The sixth meeting of the GCBI was held at ITU Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, from 27-28 February 2018. 

The meeting reviewed the strategic capacity building developments that have taken place since the last meeting of the group, held on 8-9 February 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland. Of particular importance, the meeting discussed the capacity building-related outcomes of the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-17) and provided guidance on the implementation of the recommendations. It also discussed the review of the Centres of Excellence programme in view of the next four-year cycle, and provided input to the preparations of Global ICT Capacity Building Symposium (CBS) 2018. The meeting formed the basis for the Group’s input and report to the 23rd Telecommunications Development Advisory Group (TDAG).
