The International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in partnership with the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO) are organizing a face-to-face training on VSAT and Satellite Systems: Broadband over Satellite for Arab countries to be held in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, from 13 to 17 March 2016. The training will be hosted by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Sultanate of Oman.

The training aims to provide participants with knowledge on the use of Satellite Systems for delivering broadband services and broadband connectivity as well as broadband technologies associated with Satellite Systems. This will assist participants to understand how to better deploy the satellite broadband technologies and assess VSAT and Satellite Systems. It will cover a wide range of issues relating to satellite communications, and satellite broadband services issues, including the role of the regional and international satellite communications organizations.

The training is part of the capacity building partnership between ITU and ITSO for the delivery of satellite communications training. It will be delivered by experts from both organizations and will be conducted in English.

Target Audience

This training will target practicing engineers and information technologists as well as managers and employees from regulators, government institutions, and telecommunication companies, who are interested in acquiring a technical and regulatory understanding of VSAT and Satellite systems.
