ITSO, in collaboration with ITU, is organizing two face-to-face trainings on Satellite Communications for African countries, one for English speaking countries and the other for French speaking countries.
The training in English will be held in Nairobi, Kenya from 17 to 21 July and hosted by the African Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute (AFRALTI). The training in French will be held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire from 10 to 14 July 2017 and hosted by the Ecole Supérieure Africaine des Technologies de l’Information et de la Communication (ESATIC).
The trainings are part of a partnership between the ITU and the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (ITSO) for building capacities in satellite communications. The trainings will be facilitated by two experts with extensive experience in satellite communications and addressed to regulators and operators in the telecommunication sector.
They cover a wide range of issues relating to satellite communications and regulatory issues, including the role of regional and international satellite communications organizations.
The following topics will be addressed:
- Basics of satellite communications
- Policy and regulatory guidelines for satellite services
- Network planning and link budget analysis
- VSAT installation and maintenance
- VSAT Equipment and bandwidth procurement
- Radio regulations
