The meeting reviewed the strategic capacity building developments that have taken place since the last meeting of the group, held on 11-12 November 2015 in Lisbon, Portugal. Of particular importance, the meeting discussed the outcomes of the Global ICT Capacity Building Symposium (CBS 2016) and the associated pre-events that took place in Nairobi from 5-8 September 2016, and provided guidance on the implementation of the recommendations. GCBI members were also invited to discuss the ongoing preparations, through Regional Preparatory Meetings (RPMs), for the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-17), focusing on capacity building issues. The meeting will form the basis for the Group’s input and report to the 22nd Telecommunications Development Advisory group (TDAG).
