With support from ITU and Norway through the project “Boosting digital skills through Digital Transformation Centres”, the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), the DTC in Ghana, delivered a 10-day digital skills training programme for women SME owners in the Oti Region from 3 to 14 November 2025. The training took place in the three districts of Jasikan, Nkwanta South and Krachi West, and reached a total of 120 women, including 17 persons with disabilities. The programme aimed to strengthen digital competencies for business growth while ensuring inclusive access to digital opportunities.

Participants were trained using internationally recognized content available under the DTC Initiative and provided by ITU and its partners Cisco (Cisco Networking Academy), HP (HP-LIFE), covering digital awareness, computer and mobile device use, introductory cybersecurity, social media marketing and digital finance for small businesses. The programme focused on enhancing business visibility, promoting safe online practices, and increasing awareness of digital financial tools such as savings, credit, and digital payments. All participants successfully completed the training, passed the required assessments, and received certificates.

The activity laid a strong foundation for inclusive digital transformation in the Oti Region by empowering women-led micro and small enterprises to leverage digital technologies for improved productivity and access to financial services. By prioritizing women and persons with disabilities, the training directly supports ITU’s commitment to bridging the digital skills gap and promoting equitable participation in the digital economy.
